AudioSeal and Firefly on what a container rebuild leaves behind

Platforms transcode on the way in as a matter of course. Content systems generate derivatives. Messaging apps recompress. Each of those keeps the content and rewrites the file around it.
A manifest that arrives with an original often does not arrive with the copy an audience sees. An embedded signal is unaffected by the same step, which is the whole reason the mechanism exists.
2The trade-off is information against endurance
A manifest can hold a chain of claims, signed. An embedded signal holds close to one bit and a position. Nobody would choose the second if the first survived delivery.
Which is why several entries in this record describe both, applied to the same output. Neither of this pair does: each has one mechanism, and the other row on each entry is silent.
3Neither entry describes anything for a viewer
One page was read for a mark in the frame and records that none is described. The other concerns audio, where there is no frame to mark. Both leave the person watching or listening with nothing.
So a publisher using either owes the whole of any disclosure, and the choice between these mechanisms is about what an auditor can establish later rather than about what an audience is told.
