What a missing line on a plan table proves

Four entries reach a conclusion about free-tier output the same way: the phrase that appears higher in a plan table is missing lower down. The record labels those cells as omissions rather than promoting them. As of 2026-09-12.

Inclusion rule. Entries whose free-tier position rests on a phrase absent from a plan table. Entries with a published sentence about their free tier are recorded differently. Order. The observation first, then the gap, then what is recorded.

1A plan table is a summary, and summaries drop things

Presence in a feature column means included; absence means not listed. Those are not the same as present and absent in a file, and a summary leaves things out for reasons unrelated to whatever somebody is researching.

So the honest record is the omission itself rather than the conclusion a reader would probably draw. The two look identical once they are in a table, which is why each entry carries the strength of its own evidence.

2One entry in the group published a sentence instead

A support article naming the conditions under which a mark appears is a different class of evidence from a gap in a grid. It names two unrelated causes and hedges that the list is not closed.

That hedge is worth more than the tidier cells around it. A reader relying on a closed list would be relying on something the page declined to say, and the neater entries are neater only because less was published.

3What the practical cost of the difference is

While somebody is choosing a tool it is almost nothing: they will find out by rendering a file. While somebody is documenting a delivered asset it is the whole question, because an inference cannot be shown to anybody.

A production that has to explain why a mark was or was not present wants a sentence to cite. On four of the sixteen entries there is not one, and this page exists so that is visible rather than buried.
