Two terms the obligations are built on

Two terms carry most of the weight in this record. Both appear in official text and in product marketing with different scopes, and the entries say which scope is being used. As of 2026-09-12.

A label is the term with the widest gap between the two usages. In an instrument it is a specific disclosure attached to specific content in a specified way. In a product announcement it is often a logo in a corner, which may or may not satisfy anything.

Moderation is the second. It is used for content review, for policy enforcement and for automated filtering, and the duties attached to each are different enough that a single word covering all three is a liability in a compliance conversation. The record names the duty it means each time it uses the word, and links to the paragraph that carries that duty.

  • Content moderation — Vendors differ on whether a moderated generation is charged.
  • AIGC label — Three published instruments set dates for labelling generated media.
  • Machine-readable — In an instrument it means software can detect the content as generated.
  • Provenance — Provenance records where something came from.
  • Content credentials — A family of attached records carrying origin information, signed so that tampering is detectable and dropped whenever a container is rebuilt.
  • Watermark — The word covers a visible notice in the frame, an invisible signal in the content and, loosely, a record in the container.
  • Deepfake — In an instrument the word carries a definition and a duty.
  • Provider — A provider develops a system and places it on the market.
  • Deployer — A deployer uses a system on real material.
  • Disclosure — A disclosure tells an audience something.
  • Interoperable — A mark is interoperable when somebody other than its author can read it.
  • Robust — Robustness is not a property of a mark alone.
  • Detector — A detector reports a score about one scheme.
  • Synthetic media — The phrase covers anything generated or substantially altered by a model.
  • Open weights — When model weights are published, anybody can generate with them.
  • Test mode — A development flag set in an integration can change what output carries, and nothing on any account page will later reveal it was on.
  • Transcode — A transcode re-encodes content and builds a new container.
  • Default value — A default is what happens when nobody intervenes.
