Nova Reel on carrying two marking layers at once

1Two layers is a design answer to a real failure mode

A manifest carries far more information and is dropped by anything that rebuilds the container. A signal inside the picture carries almost none and survives exactly the operations that destroy manifests. Neither is the durable mechanism; they are durable against different handling.

Applying both means a file that has been through a stripping pipeline still says something, and a file that arrives intact says a great deal. Few entries in this record describe both, and none of the others describes both as applied by default.

2A version boundary is a fact a record has to keep

The credentials are attributed to version 1.1 rather than to the model in general. That makes provenance a function of when a clip was rendered, and a library assembled over a year will contain both kinds of file with nothing in the picture to tell them apart.

This is exactly the field a delivery record answers cheaply at the time and expensively afterwards. The tool and its version, noted once per render, turn an unanswerable question into a lookup.

3What the manifest is said to carry is unusually concrete

Most credential claims in this record stop at the fact that generative work was involved. This one names the model and the platform used, which is a provenance record with content rather than a single bit.

For anybody assembling evidence about a delivered asset that is the difference between a claim and a citation. It also raises the stake on whether the manifest survives, because there is more to lose when it does not.
